Improved agriculture planning turns barren 150 acres  into productive farms

Agricultural plan has been prepared in 5 villages through methods like PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal), FGD (Focus Group Discussion) etc. In the process, 140 farmers and 160 acres of land were identified for intensive intervention. Crops were planted by farmers after receiving training on improved agricultural practices and sustainable agriculture. These  pieces of land was barren, waste and then unfit for agriculture. Nothing was grown on land when the intervention was initiated. Using PRA and other participatory techniques, crop identification suited for the land was done. Similarly, improved seed, sowing and irrigation technology was shared with farmers. Regular training and handholding support was provided to the farmer group.  A check dam constructed by Panchayat came as additional help. As a result, Urad, Sesame, mustard, Alsi, Onion, Garlic is being grown in this land now. The interventions are supported by LIC Housing Finance Limited in Durg district of Chattisgarh.
